Removes the thatch from the base of the healthy grass, aerating the soil to allow in air, light and water plus all the required nutrients to encourage healthy growth. This will help to maximise grass yield.
TOPPING
Regular topping prevents grass and weeds (ragwort, docks, thistles & nettles) from going to seed. It keeps the grass at optimum grazing length and encourages a strong and thick grass sward.
OVER SEEDING
This allows bare and patchy ground to be reseeded with the appropriate grass seed without the need for ploughing. This reduces the chance of weeds taking hold, whilst still allowing animals to graze.
FERTILISER
This will encourage strong grass growth.
ROLLING
Rolling levels out uneven and poached ground caused by out wintering stock. This is an important process as horses can lose shoes when ground is rutted which can lead to further unnecessary problems.
SPRAYING
Once the weed problem has been identified an approprate weed killer can be applied
ROTIVATING
If the grass leys are beyond repair and need renewing, this will prepare the ground with a suitable seedbed.
